Clubhouse Development General Meeting and Vote – Voting Eligibility

Members should have received their unique voting login on Wednesday 5th October for the General Meeting of Oatlands Golf Club Ltd on Wednesday 19th October and vote on the Clubhouse Development Core Property Resolution.

All members entitled to vote should have received the voting details from Vero Voting. In addition to those members who are Voting Members, under our Constitution, Liquor & Gaming NSW have advised that all ordinary (as defined by the Registered Clubs Act) membership categories must be afforded a vote. This means that in addition to Voting Members, the following membership categories are also eligible to vote on this resolution:

  • Junior
  • Lifestyle (Limited)
  • Junior Development
  • Non-Playing
  • House
  • Silver

The Board is supportive of all eligible members casting their vote on this important matter relating to the Club’s future, although we would prefer if members under the age of 18 years were not required by legislation to be included.

The proposed development with Mirvac will secure the Club’s future for generations to come. In the shorter term, the development will allow the Club to improve the facilities and services without having to rely on significant increases in member subscription fees or by resorting to levies on members.

The planned development has reduced in size since the vote in April 2022, and if approved by members, will have a Development Application submitted in November based on 162 dwellings (of which 14 are terraces), reduced by 31 dwellings from the 193 apartments proposed in April.

Importantly, there will be limited disruption to members before, during and after construction with 18 holes (there will be no temporary tees or greens) available throughout, and a temporary clubhouse facility providing a food and beverage offering commensurate with the Club’s current offering.

The Board encourages all members to vote IN FAVOUR of the resolution which will see Oatlands Golf Club become the best members Club in Northwest Sydney, without the need for additional funding from our members.

A copy of the Notice of Meeting and Explanatory Memorandum sent to members on Wednesday 28th September is available by clicking here.

If you have any questions relating to the development or General Meeting and voting process, please direct them to General Manager, Sam Howe.

From the Course

Rainfall for the Week: 60.5mm,  Rainfall for 2022: 1,848.5mm Dam: 100%   Green Speed: 9 feet

A shortened week for the course team this week with the public holiday on Monday, but we have still been able to complete many tasks, some with the assistance of the rain towards the end of the week.

Greens were dusted on Tuesday morning and rubbed in before the two tee 8am start to continue this on-going program for improved surfaces. All fairways and green surrounds were mown on Tuesday ahead the predicted rainfall for the end of the week.

Herbicide spraying of roughs has been performed this week with two different strategies having to be put in place because of the weather. On Tuesday, broadleaf weeds such as Bindi and Clover were sprayed with a herbicide that needs to be left on the leaf of the plant for absorption. The rain arrived earlier than predicted on Wednesday morning, so we changed tact and started spraying a herbicide to control winter grass, as this herbicide needs to well-watered in as the winter grass weeds absorb this herbicide by its roots. We should start to see both of these weed types in our roughs start to turn yellow in colour and die over the next 2 to 3 weeks.

Work on the 1st and 13th bunker surrounds has continued, with some large amounts of built up sand being removed from the front left bunker at the 1st. Removing this sand meant the shape of the collar leading into the green edge wasn’t ideal. So, the team has taken advantage of the course closure on Thursday and cut the putting green surface on the front left corner of this green, lifting and removing the sod so that we could blend the green surface into the collar and bunker surrounds, before reinstating the existing turf. The result looks great, with a very different, less intimidating appearance to the front of this green.

Our volunteers weren’t on course Monday because of the public holiday.

Have a great weekend!

The Course Team
