Casual Kitchen Hand

We’re currently looking to hire a casual Kitchen Hand to join our team, so if any members know someone suitable for the role who is reliable, hardworking, and has an interest in hospitality or food preparation, please encourage them to apply. Expressions of interest can be sent through to Andrew Yang via email at chef@oatlandsgolf.com.au .

From the Course

Rainfall for the week – 17.0mm

Rainfall for 2025 – 360 mm

Dam – 100%

Green speed – 9.5 feet

A very short week for the course team this week bookended by the public holidays. Greens were rolled on Tuesday and Wednesday morning which has helped settle the putting surfaces down and levelled out any high areas from the aeration process from the recent renovations. The same soil conditioning products that were applied to fairways last week, were applied to greens this week with a soil penetrant also added to the tank mix to ensure the conditioning products entered the soil profile as quickly as possible.

The fairways have brightened up in their appearance on the back of the soil applications last week, and this week all fairways have been fertilised with a combination fertiliser which is high in nitrogen. Growth is still ticking along but has slowed with the cooler overnight temperatures this past week, but the mowers are still cutting plenty of grass with each mow.

Young Sam has converted all the annual beds over to winter annuals in the past fortnight and with his dedication, a colourful display will be on show in the next few weeks. The Kress autonomous mower trial has finished, but Kress has loaned the club some battery operated equipment to trial. The team will be putting 2 backpack blowers, a hedger, and a whipper snipper (all battery powered) through their paces over the next 2 weeks to see how they compare to our existing fuel powered equipment. Noise control is always a constant issue with golf courses due to the nature of the required maintenance practices.

The new greens continue their progress this week with the practice green down to 6mm and the 19th green fertilised twice to increase the establishment of the seed on this green. The 19th green will receive its first roll next week to start the process of preparing it for cutting in the next few weeks.

Our volunteers were on course Tuesday morning this week, trimming fairway sprinkler heads, edging pathways, adjusting the timers on the pond fountains, and performing maintenance tasks in the Proshop. The roses received their weekly trim and fairway divotting was performed on Thursday morning.

Greens will be cut each morning of this long weekend, with holes being changed each morning as well.

Happy Golfing!

The Course Team
