Course Security and Personal Belongings
Recently members have observed a few individuals on the golf course and around the clubhouse displaying unusual behaviour with one person being caught looking through a member’s golf bag. We encourage everyone to stay alert and report any suspicious activity right away to staff who will deal with any issues. Please remember that although someone may look unfamiliar or out of place their intentions may not be malicious. Your attentiveness plays a vital role in maintaining the safety and security of the Club. Thank you for your cooperation.
From the Course
Rainfall for the week – 27.5mm
Rainfall for 2025 – 291.5 mm
Dam – 100%
Green speed – 10 feet
The rain and high humidity continues to fuel growth on playing surfaces, especially those fairways and roughs that haven’t been treated with growth regulator yet. The team is doing their best to keep on top of it, with 3 rough mowers out on the course everyday this week but as soon as mow it we can see it growing behind us. The growth regulator applications should be completed by the weekend, just in time for some forecasted high rainfall over the next week.
The course received 16mm of rain early Sunday morning, and then further rainfall around lunch time on Monday and Tuesday. This has certainly softened the course up and made the patches on the 1st, 13th, and 17th fairways look just a bit happier. Preliminary tests of the samples taken from these areas last week show signs of disease presence, which isn’t abnormal, but the effect of these diseases is highlighted because the turf under regulation isn’t able to defend itself by growing faster than the disease. Fungicide applications will control the diseases, but we are planning a program that will improve the soil conditions in the fairways, leading to improved infiltration rates and root development, producing a stronger turf plant and better playing surfaces.
The rainfall and humidity is also causing some algae to reappear in the putting surfaces as the surfaces aren’t able to dry out under the cloudy conditions. The 8th and 9th greens were needle tined this week to help them dry out and improve infiltration of these surfaces. All greens were sprayed with fungicide on Thursday morning to control the algae, with growth regulator and a soil penetrant added to the tank mix which will assist with moisture movement through the profile over the next week.
The turfing around the 19th green and bunker surrounds has been completed this week, and turf has also been laid around the new ponds. The practice green seed has had an infestation of Armyworm through it this week, with these pests moving in from the couch turf laid recently around the surrounds of this green. The green was fine on Friday, but very noticeable small patches were evident on Tuesday morning when we rolled this green. An application of insecticide and fungicide was made on Tuesday which cleaned up all the offending pests. The seed has responded well and will be given its 2nd cut at 11mm on Friday afternoon.
Our volunteers were on course Monday morning performing a bunker run in front of the competition players, electrical/cabling work continued in the proshop, path edging on holes 5 to 13 was completed, Crab Grass and Parramatta Grass poisoning continued, practice nets checked and cleaned, cleaning up down at the dam for the turtle release, and trimming of the hedges behind the practice nets. Several of the volunteers also backed up on Tuesday morning and helped lay the turf down at the 19th green, which well and truly affected their scores on Wednesday! The roses were also trimmed again this week. Thank you to everyone that helped out at the club this week, especially those that donated their time on the Tuesday morning to help with the turfing. Your assistance is very much appreciated by myself and the whole course team!
Greens will be cut on Saturday and Sunday morning. I will be setting pins on both mornings.
Happy Golfing!

The US Masters Breakfast & Golf is back for 2025 on Monday April 14th, where Members and their guests are welcome to enjoy watching the final round of the first Major Championship of the year for 2025 before heading out on the golf course to compete for the Oatlands Green Jacket.

1,000,000 TURTLES PROJECT – RELEASE OF TURTLE HATCHLINGS
On Tuesday the 25th of March, the Club hosted a very successful release of 6 tiny Eastern Longneck Turtles into our main dam down below the 15th hole. This has been a 3 year project driven by board member Bill Mitchell, in conjunction with Western Sydney University Professor Ricky Spencer, and students from PLC Croydon. The eggs were collected from our course by the professor and his students, incubated at the school, and once they hatched the students cared for them until today.
