From the Course
Rainfall for the Week: 5.5mm, Rainfall for 2025: 207.5mm, Dam: 100%, Green Speed: 10feet
All greens were given a light verti cut (scarify) this week which thins the surface coverage of the green by removing thatch from the grass canopy, and promotes new growth in the plant. This process combined with regular dusting of the putting surfaces will provide firmer and truer putting surfaces.
A dozen new trees were planted along the house side of the 6th fairway to eventually provide added protection for the neighbouring houses. Eucalyptus Microcory’s and Melaleuca Styphelioides were the species planted, with Microcory’s already growing well in this area and the Melaleuca’s dropping very little debris from such small foliage. The placement of the trees is aimed to direct the players vision to the right when standing on the tee, with the trees to stop misdirected golf balls from going over into the houses when fully grown.
The practice green was seeded again on Tuesday afternoon, with good weather conditions prevailing for the remainder of the week. More turf was laid on the surrounds with the help of the volunteers, with the rest of the surrounds to be completed early next week. The new couch is rooting down very quickly under the current weather conditions, with mowing of the initial turf to be performed next week.
The 19th green has progressed with the gravel and sand installed which forms the profile of the putting surface. The surrounds of the new path at the 19th tee will be prepared next week so it can be opened to cart traffic very soon.
Our volunteers swapped to Tuesday morning this week so they could assist with the laying of the new turf around the practice green. Once the turf was laid, they went on with drain clearing at the men’s 11th tee, with these two drains needing this work after the heavy rains of the previous week. Fairway sprinkler heads were trimmed, tree guards were repaired, practice nets checked and this area cleaned, hand weeding of Crab Grass in the tees, and electrical work in the Proshop. Fairway divotting was performed on Thursday morning, and the roses were trimmed over the weekend. Thank you to everyone that volunteered their time to the Club this week. Your assistance, as always, was very much appreciated, with the absence of the Monday bunker run noted by the Monday ladies!
Greens will be cut on Saturday and Sunday morning.
Happy Golfing
The Course Team.

Captain’s Corner – Responsibility of the Player and Marker in Scoring
Over recent months, a number of issues have occurred on the golf course regarding scoring, and the question of the scorer / markers responsibility has arisen.
The Rules of Golf are not definitive in this area, but there are clear rules that need to be followed should there be a question raised by a marker as to the score the player declares on any given hole, (refer Rule 3.3).
It is a markers responsibility during the round of golf to observe the players strokes on each hole, which should be confirmed after holing out to avoid disagreement at a later time.
In the same vein, and although not clearly stated in the rules, it is strongly suggested that any time the player needs to take any form of relief, that the player confers with his/her marker to ensure that the relief being sought is both permissible, and also that relief is taken in the correct manner.
It should not be assumed that a player can take relief from a situation based solely on their understanding of the rules. Should the player and the marker disagree on what action can be taken, the marker should not sign off on the card/Mi-score app until the matter has been referred to a Match committee member before the score is entered. Alternatively, if there is disagreement at the time of having the shot, it is suggested that two balls be played so that a decision can be made by the Match committee member as to the action taken. If a marker knowingly enters a wrong score, the marker can also be disqualified.
Seeking consensus in a situation is the right approach and should not be looked upon as questioning a player’s action or integrity.
Good Golfing!

Out of Bounds Registers – If in Doubt, Please Register
In late 2020, the Club introduced Out of Bounds Registers on the 1st, 6th and 12th tees.
While these have been largely well utilised by members, we are seeing an increase in golf balls reported as going Out of Bounds by neighbours, that aren’t being recorded.
As such, members are reminded that if you have any doubt as to whether your ball may have gone Out of Bounds, please register the shot using the QR code on the respective tee. As a general rule, if a provisional ball needs to be played then an OOB Register entry should be made.
The Club has insurance for all members against personal and property damage when playing on the course. In order for the Club to make a claim against this insurance, we simply need to be able to identify who hit the errant shot. Importantly, a claim made on this insurance does not affect an individual’s insurance cover in any way.
We thank you in advance for your co-operation!
