From the Course
Rainfall for the Week: 48.0mm, Rainfall for 2025: 202.0mm, Dam: 100%, Green Speed: 9.5feet
A rainfall total of 48mm for the week, with 46mm dumping on the course Monday morning in a 30 minute period which changed the work schedule for the remainder of the week for the course team!
As the video’s on the members Facebook page showed, the course was inundated, with the intensity of the storm flooding greens and fairways, washing out bunkers, and causing damage to our newly seeded practice green, and the freshly laid couch surrounds, which were only finished being laid by the course team and the volunteers minutes before the heavens opened.
Soil from the surrounds of the green washed onto the new couch areas and across the putting surface. This soil has been scraped off the new couch and put back on the surrounds. Two areas of the couch at the front and back left hand side of the surrounds were washed out with the force of the water flow, and they were repaired on Thursday.
We lifted the growth cover on Thursday and discovered good and bad results. The good news was that we did have seed that had germinated well, with a nice green tinge across the putting surface when viewed at ground level. The bad news was that several areas had washed out and the fibre we had incorporated into the soil profile had accumulated in certain areas. This meant it had washed out of other areas causing inconsistency throughout the profile.
We have made the decision to start over, repairing the putting surface area, incorporating new fibre into the profile, and reseeding this green. It does put this green back a fortnight, but it is the best solution for the long term health and consistency of this green.
The new concrete path at the 19th tee was laid last Saturday morning without too much disturbance to play. The edges of this path now need to be prepared so that new turf can be laid along it. Our contractors continue their work down at the 19th green site. The subbase of the putting surface has been cut into the clay and can be seen from the 7th tee. The rear bunker has also been cut into the bank of the 7th tee, with the placement of the large rocks that will sit above the sand base of the bunker being installed this week as well. Gravel and sand will hopefully start to arrive for this green next week.
Our volunteers were on course Monday morning trimming fairway sprinkler heads, trimming and clearing drains, hand weeding tee pads, helping with the turfing of the practice green surrounds, divotting fairways, and unblocking the toilets in the men’s locker room. Thank you to everyone that helped out this week, your efforts are always appreciated!
Greens will be cut on Saturday and cut and rolled on Sunday morning.
Happy Golfing
The Course Team.

Out of Bounds Registers – If in Doubt, Please Register
In late 2020, the Club introduced Out of Bounds Registers on the 1st, 6th and 12th tees.
While these have been largely well utilised by members, we are seeing an increase in golf balls reported as going Out of Bounds by neighbours, that aren’t being recorded.
As such, members are reminded that if you have any doubt as to whether your ball may have gone Out of Bounds, please register the shot using the QR code on the respective tee. As a general rule, if a provisional ball needs to be played then an OOB Register entry should be made.
The Club has insurance for all members against personal and property damage when playing on the course. In order for the Club to make a claim against this insurance, we simply need to be able to identify who hit the errant shot. Importantly, a claim made on this insurance does not affect an individual’s insurance cover in any way.
We thank you in advance for your co-operation!

Pennant Update
Men’s Major Pennant
The Major Pennant team was out at Bankstown on Sunday (9/2) morning to play their first away match of the season after recording a 4-3 win against Bankstown at home the week prior. It was a close contest all day with no one getting too far ahead or behind in their match but the first point for Oatlands came from number 3 and team captain Grant Lomas finding a few late birdies to win 2&1. The 4, 5 & 6 matches all went down the 18th with Christian Fong and Nathan Wareham securing a half point each and Luke Mason getting a crucial 3rd point in with a 1 up victory. Young Park playing in the number 1 spot was able to make a solid regulation par on the long and tough 17th hole to win his match 2&1 and secure the away win which leaves Oatlands on top of the sectional leaderboard, a third of the way through the season.
The team plays Long Reef at home on Sunday the 16th with the following team picked to play:
- Young Park
- Wil Reece
- Grant Lomas (c)
- Nathan Wareham
- Luke Mason
- Christian Fong
- Charlie Kim
Res. Ian Priest
Members are encouraged to get along to the Club and see our best male golfers represent the Club in the Major Pennant competition.
Mixed Pennant
Our Mixed Pennant team had a bye last weekend and we now play Macquarie Links at Rosnay this coming Sunday 16/2, a win is needed to progress to the finals.
