Happy Easter
On behalf of the Board of Directors, Management, and all Staff of Oatlands Golf Club, we wish all members a safe and Happy Easter.
If you are travelling over the break, please take care on the roads, as recent weather conditions will have made parts of NSW unpredictable.
We look forward to seeing you all over the next few weeks and to improved weather and lots more golf……the Easter Bunny has promised!!!
From the Course
Rainfall for the Week: 112mm, Rainfall for 2022: 1,235.5mm Dam: 100% Green Speed: 9.5 feet
With persistent heavy rainfall at the end of last week, the course was once again beyond its saturation point. Hopefully, the blue skies over the last couple of days are here to stay. I am sure we were all itching to get back out on the course after watching the final round of the Masters on Monday morning, and it would have been great to see Cameron Smith get the win but just wasn’t to be this year.
This being a shortened week due to Easter, the focus was on getting surfaces back to playing quality by Thursday. The course team identified areas that needed extended drying out time. Examples of this are fairways 4,6,7 and 8, which were not cut until the afternoon. Some areas of rough in the tree lines are still too wet to cut and the shortened days are not helping in drying these areas.
The course team took advantage of the sunny conditions on Monday to continue applying growth regulator to fairways and roughs on holes 2,3,4,6,7,8,10 and 11, with a light rate to suppress growth while the wet weather continues.
Our new bunkers have once again performed well throughout the rain period. All new bunkers have been repaired and are back in play from today, with the old bunkers staying GUR until some favourable weather is forecast. They are slowly draining but still holding substantial amounts of water and are covered in a thick layer of silt.
Volunteers had a much deserved morning off Monday due to The Masters telecast.
This Easter weekend we are planning to dew broom greens on Friday and Monday mornings and cut greens on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Enjoy the Weekend!
The Course Team.

Captain’s Corner
Those of us that have been lucky enough to have played the course in the last couple of days would have found the tees and greens in the best condition they have been for many a year.
Due to the course closure the course has had the time to repair itself with divots and pitch marks having time to recover.
This is a time to enjoy the game we all love, and I thank you all for making every effort to maintain the course in a pristine condition. As we move into the cooler months, the fairways and the rough will take longer to repair. We have an obligation to the course to provide every opportunity to assist in the repair and regrowth as much as we can.
I thank everyone who takes the opportunity to repair their divots, on both the fairway and in the rough, and repair at least one pitch mark on every green. You are the ones that take pride in your course.
My thank you starts with your next game of golf, remembering that this is your golf club.
Let our enjoyment begin.
